Colorado optimistic Calif ruling won't hurt water deal

Colorado water officials are optimistic that a California court ruling invalidating a conservation plan won't derail agreements affecting seven Western states.
Dick Wolfe, director of the Colorado Division of Water Resources, said Tuesday that water officials have shown a "collective will" to overcome obstacles.
A judge last week overturned a deal allowing California to transfer enough water for millions of families from farm to city use. The judge said California lawmakers hadn't approved the costs.
An appeal is planned.
The water transfer allowed California to enter into a landmark 2007 agreement with Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming on managing the Colorado River during droughts.
