Colorado officials admit mistakes in child deaths

The head of the state Department of Human Services says mistakes were made when the department failed to follow up on the deaths of 10 children.
Executive Director Karen Beye told lawmakers on Monday the failure to file final reports on the deaths "constituted an unacceptable lapse in a critical mission of the department," but she insists counties were informed of problems and ways to fix them.
Senate President Brandon Shaffer says the House and Senate will hold hearings on the lapses beginning next month.
