Colorado man sentenced for Kansas kidnapping

A Denver-area man has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for holding a suburban Topeka couple hostage while on the run from criminal charges in his home state.

Jesse Dimmick, 24, was convicted in May of kidnapping, fleeing from law enforcement and stealing a motor vehicle. He apologized Wednesday to Jared and Lindsay Rowley in Shawnee County District Court.

Dimmick burst into the couple's Dover home last Sept. 12 after crashing a stolen van in their yard during a chase that began in Geary County. The couple escaped after Dimmick fell asleep. Officers then stormed the house.

Dimmick is from Aurora. He remains wanted in Colorado in connection with a man's beating death at an Aurora motel.
