A 21-year-old man convicted in a fatal carjacking in Denver has been sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 96 years.

Quent Scaggs was convicted in April of first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting of 19-year-old Aaron Garcia. He was also convicted of second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery and was sentenced as a habitual criminal.

Authorities say Scaggs got into a car in a Wal-Mart parking lot in northeast Denver Oct. 30, 2008, and took off with Garcia inside. Garcia was found shot to death in the car in an alley.

Scaggs was arrested the next day.
