GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - A 46-year-old Jefferson County man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his former wife, who was found bludgeoned and strangled in her home in 2009.

A jury convicted Daryll Glenn Brown Tuesday of first-degree murder and other charges in the death of 31-year-old Alisha Brown. Prosecutors say Brown used a key to sneak into his ex-wife's house late at night and as she lay sleeping, he smashed her skull with a wine bottle and then strangled her.

Authorities say the Browns went through a contentious divorce and shared custody of their 4-year-old son. They say Alisha Brown had said her ex-husband violated the visitation agreement.
