Colorado man found guilty of child sex assault flees

A Douglas County jury has found a 55-year-old man guilty of 17 counts of sexual assault of a child,
but he fled before hearing the verdict.

Authorities say an arrest warrant was issued Friday for Richard Heeringa after he failed to appear in court. The jury returned the verdict after deliberating one day.

Authorities say Heeringa molested the girl from 2005 to 2007.

Prosecutors say there was testimony against him involving previous allegations of sex assault.
