More than half the states in the country identify illegal aliens by comparing fingerprints of everyone who is booked into jail to federal records. Not Colorado.

Supporters say the program, used by 26 states, streamlines the identification of illegal immigrants.

Opponents want Gov. Bill Ritter to stop the program from coming to the state. The Colorado Immigrant Right's Coalition says the Secure Communities program is too broad and will hurt immigrants' relationship with police.
