A Colorado Army National Guard crew is helping the U.S. Southern Command's relief efforts in Haiti.
The crew was to have left Wednesday night to help ferry personnel, medical supplies and equipment between Homestead Air Force Base, Fla., and the airport in Port-au-Prince. Guard members will spend at least 15 days helping respond to the victims of the Jan. 12 earthquake.
The crew is flying a Fairchild C-26E, a twin turbo-prop fixed-wing plane. It can carry 21,000 pounds, 12 passengers and cargo.
