DENVER (AP) - Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is speaking to the Colorado Oil & Gas Association.

Hickenlooper speaks to the group's annual Energy Epicenter Conference in Denver on Tuesday morning.

The remarks come four days after the Democratic governor nominated four new members to the nine-member Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which regulates the industry.

The Colorado Senate must confirm the nominations.

The industry reacted warmly to the nominees, saying they had strong technical knowledge and experience in the industry. The Oil and Gas Association has been critical of new rules imposed on the industry.

Frank Smith of the Western Colorado Congress environmental group was more critical, saying some of the appointments look like gifts to the industry.
