DENVER (AP) - Colorado elections officials have dismissed a campaign finance fine against the Boulder County Republican Party.

The (Longmont) Times-Call reports that the $18,600 fine related to financial reporting was dismissed after the county party appealed.

Colorado Elections Division director Judd Choate told the county party that the fine was "erroneously imposed" because the money in question didn't need to be reported as a donation. The county party received $1,250 in 2010 from the state Republican Central Committee, which shared office space with the county party during the 2010 campaign.

The state concluded that since the state and county GOP parties are "affiliated entities within the same organization," the money didn't need to be reported as a donation.
