(AP)-Forecasters are warning of wintry weather over much of western Colorado, while gusty winds are buffeting much of the other side of the state.
Western Colorado is under a patchwork of advisories, including a freeze warning in the northwest and southwest corners and winter storm warnings or winter weather advisories in between.
The National Weather Service says a foot or more of snow could fall in some areas above 9,000 feet.
High winds and poor visibility prompted the state highway department to close both directions of a 12-mile stretch of Interstate 70 between Burlington and the Kansas border.
The Weather Service says winds gusting up to 60 miles an hour are expected on the Eastern Plains.
