Colorado flood price-gouging not illegal

DENVER (AP) - Colorado flood victims are being warned that the state does not have a law against price-gouging except for prescription drugs during emergencies.

Colorado Assistant Attorney General Jan Zavislan says as long as the consumer agrees on a price, it's legal.

The attorney general's office says so far, there have been only a few complaints of hotels raising their rates for flood victims, but that could change as rescue efforts drag on.

The Denver Post reports prices could rise sharply for the more immediate needs of food, water, fuel and shelter.
