DENVER (AP) - Next year's state budget isn't going to be pretty - and Democratic lawmakers are branching out this weekend looking for constituent ideas on how to cut spending.

Democratic legislators planned town hall-style meetings in a dozen different Colorado towns Saturday looking for ideas on next year's budget.

Lawmakers are still looking for some half-billion in cuts for next fiscal year. Projections released Friday predicted that Colorado's economy will grow, giving the state more tax money, but that growth isn't coming fast enough to prevent deep cuts to balance the budget.

Democrats' "budget listening tour" comes a week before legislative budget-writers submit a spending plan for next year for consideration by the full Legislature.
