Two Democrats competing for the Senate nomination are trading jabs over Social Security.

Sen. Michael Bennet accused his challenger Wednesday of voting to privatize Social Security in a resolution while Andrew Romanoff was in the state House. Romanoff said that the 2004 resolution favored privatizing Social Security only if the entitlement program was not cut.

Romanoff accused Bennet of misleading voters.

Bennet's campaign then sent reporters a statement insisting that Romanoff is misleading seniors and that his vote could have hurt poor seniors.

The primary election is Aug. 10.
