GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - A freshman lawmaker from Grand Junction wants to add more people with industry experience to the panel that regulates oil and gas drilling in Colorado.

Republican Rep. Ray Scott introduced a bill Monday that would return the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission to the same makeup it had in 2007. That's when the Democratic-controlled Legislature required that the seven-member board include more people with environmental and wildlife experience as well as a farmer or rancher who is also an oil or gas royalty owner.

Three commission members must have experience in the oil and gas industry under the current law.

The Daily Sentinel reports the bill faces an uphill battle. Democratic Senate President Brandon Shaffer said he doesn't want to rehash old debates.
