CALMAR, Iowa (AP) - Funeral services will be held in Calmar in northeast Iowa for an Army Ranger from Colorado who died in Afghanistan last month.
Twenty-year-old Pfc. Christopher Horns, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and two other soldiers were killed in a bomb explosion on Oct. 22 in the Kandahar province. Horns was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State.
The Gazette in Cedar Rapids says Horns' parents live in Colorado, but many relatives live in Iowa.
Horns' father, Larry, who served in the Army for 30 years, says his son came to Iowa just before he joined the military.
His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Calmar Lutheran Church.
