Colo. lawmakers hammer away at redistricting

DENVER (AP) - Colorado lawmakers are plowing ahead with plans to
debate congressional redistricting, despite a lack of agreement on
how they will handle it.
GOP House Speaker Frank McNulty said the House will take up the
GOP map on Monday, and Democratic Senate Majority Leader John Morse
told colleagues to be ready to debate a competing plan later in the
day.
They have until Wednesday to reach an agreement. After that, the
legislature could be called into special session or the issue could
be left to the courts to decide.
Lawmakers are required to draw news congressional lines every 10
years after a census, but redistricting is politically charged as
both parties try to maximize their chances.
