Ted's Bicycles is very busy this week refurbishing used bicycles to make them like-new for the annual Bob Telmosse Christmas Giveaway, happening Monday, December 20 at the former Crissy Fowler Lumber Yard on W. Vermijo Street. "We fixed up over 450 bikes last year and we're shooting for more than that this year," said Tony Hoewisch, owner of Ted's Bicycles.
Ted's, 3016 N. Hancock Avenue, is accepting bikes in all conditions through December 18. Hoewisch says he and his staff can repair and refurbish as many as 15 bikes per day. "It does get a little busy," Hoewish said. "It's a matter of working after hours, sometimes coming in early."
Ted's will replace worn-out tires, repair brakes, gears, and chains, and make sure wheels are aligned and true so that everyone who receives a bike at the Bob Telmosse Giveaway can be assured of a safe bike.
