Clean air easier on asthma patients

The American Lung Association has published its lists of the 10 US cities with the cleanest and dirtiest air. Pueblo made the list for cleanest air in the country, when short-term particulate pollution, long-term particulate pollution and ozone are factored-in.

That may come as a huge surprise to long time southern Coloradans, who remember when Pueblo was called Pew-town because of the steel mill.

The clean-air news is good for Puebloans, according to the Lung Association, because of the health consequences of dirty air. Higher levels of particulate pollution and ozone cause asthma attacks that land patients in emergency rooms.

Colorado Springs made the list for Cleanest U.S. Cities for Short-term Particle Pollution.
