In Trinidad, an injury on the football field has led to a civil lawsuit against the Trinidad School District and a sporting goods company.
The suit alleges back in August 2008 that Rhett Ridolfi, a high school football player, was critically injured during a practice drill. The suit was filed three years ago, but just went to a jury trial this week.
Ridolfi's mother Valerie alleges her son vomited and complained of dizziness, but was cleared to return to practice.
Ridfolfi's injury was so severe, doctors had to remove half his skull and a blood clot in his head.
The family is suing on the basis of negligence. They're seeking an unspecified amount of money from the Trinidad School District, nine coaches and administrators and Riddell Sports, which made her son's helmet.
