The City of Colorado Springs wants input on fixing a railroad crossing hazard.
The crossing at Royer and Las Vegas Streets, just southeast of downtown Colorado Springs, is the worst--safety wise--in the area with 25 accidents over the last 35 years. More than 30 trains pass through every 24 hours.
The city is studying the possibility of closing, redesigning or moving it. The most recent incident occurred Nov. 12. While there have been no fatalities with these accidents, about half of the accidents included injuries.
The city has sent postcards to area residents and property owners asking that they complete an 11 question survey. To see that survey click here.
