Last night Pueblo City Council voted to grant benefits to same-sex couples who work for the city. A lot of you have been asking us, if straight couples who aren't married can receive those same benefits.

Human Resource Director Marisa Walker explained to us which couples can receive these benefits. Walker says straight couples who aren't married but live together can receive the benefits if they sign an affidavit with the city claiming common law married status.

Walker says gay couples who sign up for the benefits will also have to sign an affidavit. She says it's an equal process for both straight and married couples.
