The manager of communications in Colorado Springs City Government submitted her resignation, effective tomorrow.
According to a news release sent out today, Sue Skiffington-Blumberg was asked to resign.
"I'm accepting Sue's resignation with sincere thanks for a job well done. Her significant contribution is recognized by City leadership, industry peers and members of her staff. We wish her continued future success," said Acting City Manager Steve Cox.
According to the Gazette, John Leavitt, who also works in public communications said, "What she revealed to us (afterward) in our staff meeting was that the new mayor had in mind a direction for public communications and didn't feel as though she was the right person to lead in that effort, that he had a new leader in mind," Leavitt said.
But the Gazette went on to quote Laura Carno, a spokeswoman for Mayor-elect Steve Bach. She said Bach had "nothing at all" to do with Skiffington-Blumberg's resignation.
