Church yard sale aims to feed a community

Members of a Colorado Springs church are doing some late spring cleaning to help feed families in our community.

The congregation at Church For All Nations on the northeast side is hosting a large scale community yard sale with proceeds benefiting the Angel Food organization.

Pastor Mark Cowart says there has been a remarkable rise in the number of people using the discounted food ministry since the recession hit.

"It has been a bit surprising how many people have empty cupboards right here in Colorado Springs in our own backyard," Cowart said.

This is the first time the church has organized the event and they say they're pleased with the turnout. They plan on making it an annual fundraiser.
