Some people are beginning to head to the mountains to cut down their own Christmas tree. Permits are now available for $10, limit two trees per household.
If you plan to cut down your own tree the U.S. Forest service reminds you to be prepared for winter conditions. Take warm clothing, boots, emergency supplies and a map.
You can get a permit at the following locations:
