Officials say a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter has crashed in the Uinta Mountains in Utah. The helicopter was heading to Colorado.

Summit County sheriff's office Det. Ron Bridge says two people reportedly sustained serious injuries, one had minor injuries and two others on board were not hurt.

Bridge says the helicopter crew reported the crash via text message to a third party Wednesday around 10:30 a.m. The third party then called 911.

Bridge says it's still unclear where the crash happened. Crews, including some on snowmobiles, are searching the mountains. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says investigators are on hand to help.

He says preliminary reports are that two Coast Guard aircraft were headed from Salt Lake City to
Leadville, Colorado when one crashed.
