COLORADO SPRINGS - The top judge in El Paso County confirms that a threat was made against against the life of one of his judges. Chief Judge Gilbert Martinez of the Colorado 4th Judicial District said a threat was made against County Judge Jonathan Walker. Judge Martinez also clarified Judge Walker's recent absence saying he was on vacation and not on leave.
Judge Martinez says the threat against Judge Walker will not change security procedures at the El Paso County Judicial Building. However, he said security is an ongoing concern with our without the threat. A security committee meets quarterly to review and implement any changes.
An anonymous source told the Denver Post that members of the white supremist gang the 211 Crew order a hit against Walker in retaliation for his role in the investigation of slain prison director Tom Clements. Clements was shot to death at his home in Monument last September by parolee and 211 member Evan Ebel who later died in a gun fight with authorities in Texas.
