DENVER (AP) - Federal authorities say a real estate developer from Chicago hired a hit man to kill a Colorado man over a court dispute. The hit man turned out to be an undercover agent.

The U.S. District Attorney's office says Brooks Kellogg paid $2,000 to an undercover agent he thought was a hit man at Denver International Airport and asked him to kill a man who had successfully sued him for $2.5 million in Steamboat Springs.

Prosecutors say police arrested Kellogg Tuesday after he met with the undercover agent.

Prosecutors announced the arrest Thursday. Bail has not been set for Kellogg yet and he is due in court Monday
