The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has welcomed an adult female Mexican Gray Wolf. Zookeepers are hoping their next news about the endangered mammals will be birth announcements.

Six-year-old Weeko, meaning beautiful girl, has joined 10-year-old Masadi, meaning moon, in the Rocky Mountain Wild exhibit. Weeko was sent here as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan. Both wolves are now on exhibit.

Once plentiful, it's now believed that just 40 Mexican gray wolves remain in the wild, chiefly along the Arizona-New Mexico border.
