Cheyenne Creek tops banks, floods parking lot

COLORADO SPRINGS - Cheyenne Creek topped its banks and began to flow through parking of the Cheyenne Creek Apartments washing against the wheels of vehicles parked there. Residents at the complex, which is located near Cheyenne Road and Cascade Avenue, say the water level in the creek rose considerably earlier in the day.

The Colorado Springs Police Department closed Cheyenne Road farther west at the intersection with Cresta Road near Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School. The creek and flooded its banks in that area as well and first responders were concerned the water would begin to flow down the street.
