Colorado Springs furthers their green effort by installing LED streetlights across the city.

A total of 430 LED streetlights will be installed across the city, and 130 of those have yet to find a home. Those will be installed in residential areas and Colorado Springs Utilities want the community to decide where they will go.

If you wish to "win" installation of these $400 dollar-plus lights in your neighborhood, all you have to do is log onto the Colorado Springs Utilities Facebook page or twitter and select "like" to be entered into the running.

The contest will run through the summer, so there is plenty of time to win.

Representatives from the City say they believe the lights will save at a minimum 50% in energy, maintenance, and labor costs. LED lights are believed to last anywhere between ten and twenty years.

The program was funded by Federal grant money and Colorado Springs Utilities.
