AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Police say a high school employee who accidentally shot a student in the leg likely won't face criminal charges.
The Aurora Sentinel reports that the unnamed employee at Rangeview High School has been placed on administrative leave. Police and school officials haven't released the employee's name, saying only that he wasn't a teacher or one of the district's armed security officers.
Police say the student, who is an adult, was significantly injured in Monday's shooting but is expected to survive.
Police said the school employee knew the student and was giving him a ride home. The employee tried to put his gun, which he uses for an off-campus security job, into the glove box when it discharged, hitting the student in the leg.
