Charges filed in alleged attack on Denver police

DENVER (AP) - A 20-year-old woman accused of throwing an incendiary device at a police cruiser faces charges that carry penalties of up to 90 years in prison.
Amelia Nicol faces charges including two felony counts of attempted murder. She's accused of throwing the incendiary device at a police cruiser May 6 during a protest march south of downtown Denver.
Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey formally filed charges Thursday. Nicol also is charged with felony use of explosives, possession of explosives, second-degree arson, criminal mischief and inciting a riot, as well as two misdemeanor charges.
Authorities say the device hit a marked police car and exploded and burned.
Police had booked Nicol into jail under the name "Jane Doe" after she refused to give her name.
