Cesar Chavez Founders Lawrence and Annette Hernandez say they are "outraged and highly offended by the irresponsible conclusions and unwarranted personal attacks" leveled against them after the audit of the Cesar Chavez School Network was released last week.
They argue that the audit was really a "review," since the company performing it is not a certified public accounting firm.
Hernandez agreed to a sit down interview with News First 5 Investigative Reporter James Jarman last week to discuss the audit that was paid for by the state and Pueblo City Schools District.
This week Hernandez said his attorney advised against the sit down interview, but would release a written response to the audit at Jarman's request.
Below is a link to the verbatim of that statement, which is being released to the public through various media outlets chosen by Lawrence and Annette Hernandez.
