The Chief Financial Officer at the Cesar Chavez school network has resigned under pressure from the Board of Directors at Pueblo City Schools.
Jason Guerrero had agreed to stay with the charter schools last year after the two other top administrators were terminated. He was scheduled to leave June 4, but after a letter from the Pueblo City Schools said he should leave within 48 hours, he resigned.
Guerrero agreed to stay until an audit of Cesar Chavez Academy and Delores Huerta Preparatory High School was complete. That audit showed lax oversight of cell phones and credit cards, as well as high salaries for Guerrero and founder Lawrence Hernandez and his wife.
The two schools are still dealing with a list of problems the City School Board would like fixed.
