EATON, Colo. (AP) - A century-old former sugar factory is coming down in northern Colorado.
A crowd gathered Sunday in Eaton to watch the beginning of the demolition of the old Great Western Sugar factory. The Greeley Tribune, reported that explosives brought down the center of the 111-year-old building as well as water tower and a smoke stack, slightly disappointing some of the hundreds of people who gathered to watch.
The company contracted to do the demolition, Recycled Materials, wanted to limit the implosion to make sure that the building's cast iron beams didn't turn into shrapnel. Crews will finish bringing the building down and then collect the debris.
