A Colorado Department of Transportation employee and two others face charges of stealing at least $200,000 worth of fuel from the state.

Prosecutors filed charges Tuesday against 39-year-old Jaime Perez, 42-year-old Fernando Ibarra-Gonzalez and 40-year-old Asuncion Aguirre-Barron.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says Perez used his job as a CDOT heavy equipment operator to clone fuel cards and obtain pin numbers, which he then allegedly gave to Ibarra-Gonzalez and Aguirre-Barron. An affidavit says Perez avoided detection this winter and spring by using cards assigned to equipment that was rarely used, such as a steamroller. The fuel was then sold to trucking companies around Denver.

Perez was being held on $750,000 bail, while the other two were being held on $500,000 bail. All three were are due Wednesday in court.
