CC Tigers announce 2013-14 Schedule

COLORADO SPRINGS - Competing in a brand new league bursting at the seams with high-octane opponents, Tiger Hockey will play another glamorous schedule when the team returns to the ice next season.  Colorado College's 2013-14 slate, officially released today, features a total of 16 games against six different teams - including four fellow members of the fledgling National Collegiate Hockey Conference - that earned bids to this year's NCAA Tournament culminating next week at the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Eight of those 16 outings are included on CC's 20-game home schedule at the Colorado Springs World Arena, and season tickets already are available by calling 719-389-6324 or visiting www.cctigers.com.

Under the guidance of Scott Owens, now in his 15th year as head coach, the Tigers help launch the NCHC after recently advancing all the way to the title game of their final Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

Headlining a list of 12 league games at home in ‘13-14 are the annual pair with the University of Denver (Nov. 8 andFeb. 22), along with two apiece against NCHC foes Miami
University (Jan. 24-25) and St. Cloud State (March 7-8).

Like all three of those teams, Hockey East Association opponent University of New Hampshire (Nov. 29-30) competed for a national title this spring. Colorado College also plays SCSU, which remains alive with an upcoming appearance at the Frozen Four, twice in St. Cloud, Minn. (Nov. 22-23), and has two games each at Denver (Nov. 9 and Feb. 21), the Big Ten's University of Wisconsin (Dec. 13-14) and the NCHC's University of North Dakota (Jan. 10-11) to complete the lineup of 16 tilts with 2013 national tournament participants.

The Tigers, who own an all-time winning percentage of .688 (231-99-18) at the World Arena since opening the facility in January ‘98, also serve as hosts for four other non-conference games including single contests against Air Force (Nov. 19) and Brown University (Jan. 4) prior to a weekend series with Providence College (Jan. 17-18).

After exhibitions at the CSWA against the University of New Brunswick (Oct. 5) and the United States Under-18 Team (Oct. 12), the Tigers open league play at home vs. Minnesota Duluth the weekend of Oct. 18-19. They play four NCHC games apiece (two at home, two on the road)
against the Bulldogs, the University of Nebraska Omaha and Western Michigan University in addition to those against DU and St. Cloud State. A trip to Potsdam, N.Y., for a two-game set against Clarkson University (Oct. 25-26) kicks off CC's 10-game non-league slate for 2013-14.

The official season opener against UMD on Oct. 18 will be televised live nationally by CBS Sports Network. Tiger Hockey, whose average home attendance of 6,979 in ‘12-13 was its third highest ever, remains the top drawing college hockey attraction in the state of Colorado.

Season-ticket prices start at $149 and include all 20 regular-season home games plus any home playoff dates. Fans ordering prior to May 31 can receive a special discount of up to $20 on each season ticket. Season-ticket holders receive many special benefits, including a choice of the best seat locations. Interest-free payment options - including a five-month plan - are available to fit any budget. Renewal notices will be mailed in April.
