OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - At the College World Series, John Hicks' RBI single in the seventh inning broke a scoreless tie and Virginia went on to beat California 4-1 in the first of two Sunday games in Omaha. Hicks' one-out blast to center field ended the longest scoreless CWS game in 24 years.

South Carolina edged Texas A&M 5-4 on Scott Wingo's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth in the nightcap of the double-elimination tournament. The Gamecocks advanced to a Bracket 2 winners' game against Virginia on Tuesday night. The Aggies play California in an elimination game that afternoon.
