At least four cats appear to be trapped in an abandoned home in Des Moines, Iowa.
Neighbors say a dog was also penned up on the porch, but a deputy from the Polk County Sheriff's Office was able to remove it by gaining access to the closed-in porch.
Someone, perhaps a concerned neighbor, has placed cat food along a crack in the window in an attempt to feed the cats.
Dog feces and hair covered the floor of the porch and a strong odor emanated from the home.
Josh Colvin, Operations Manager for the Animal Rescue League, says the ARL has attempted to contact the owner of the home three times.
Des Moines Police have also contacted the owner.
Police say they planned to meet with her, but she failed to show up.
