Two soldiers from Fort Carson are behind bars in Texas, facing charges of conspiracy related to a drug trafficking and attempted murder-for-hire plot. Kevin Corley and Samuel Walker were arrested over the weekend, in Laredo.
The investigation, led by the DEA and FBI, began in January of 2011. According to investigators, Corley offered stolen weapons, training, and information he had as an active-duty soldier, to people he thought were Mexican drug cartels. Instead, he was allegedly speaking with undercover agents.
Authorities say Corley, Walker, and another soldier who is from Denver, all met up with undercover agents this weekend, to coordinate a murder plot to steal cocaine from a rival cartel. That's when they were arrested.
