A bus, carrying students returning from a field trip, was hit by a car on Fort Carson Thursday. Fort Carson Fire and Emergency Services say they got the call just before 1 p.m.

District 8 assistant superintendent Dave Roudebush says 10 children and one adult from Mountainside Elementary on the bus were immediately transported to Evans Army Community Hospital as a medical precaution. Roudebush says apparent injuries were limited to bumps and bruises. Mountainside Elementary students connected with the accident are in stable condition.

Two adults in the vehicle that struck the bus were also transported to E.A.C.H. The conditions of the occupants of the other vehicle are unknown.

The students were returning to Mountainside Elementary after a field trip when the accident occurred on post. The school bus was traveling westbound on O'Connell Blvd. near Chiles Ave. when the accident occurred.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
