DETROIT (AP) - The number of U.S. car dealerships is rising again after hundreds of closures during the recession. The auto industry has been seeing steady sales gains over the past few years, despite the lackluster overall recovery. At the end of last year, there were more than 17,700 dealerships in the U.S, according to a report from a consulting firm released this week.
