Capitol Christmas tree will tour La Junta

Next week people in La Junta will be able to see the massive 73 ft. tall Engelmann Spruce which will serve as our nation's official Christmas Tree. The U.S. Captiol Christmas Tree will be on display at 3rd and Colorado in La Junta, on Nov. 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. "We are honored this year's Capitol Christmas Tree will make a stop in La Junta and to be a part of a gift to the nation," said Rick Klein, City Manager.

Once in Washington, D.C. the tree will be placed on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol and decorated with more than 5,000 ornaments handmade by Colorado children.The 2012 Capitol

Christmas Tree has stops planned in the following towns and cities:

November 6 - Rangely-Steamboat Springs
November 7 - Dillon - Glenwood Springs
November 8 - Grand Junction - Montrose
November 9 - Cortez - Durango
November 10 - Pagosa - Alamosa
November 11 - Colorado Springs - Denver
November 12 - Greeley - LaJunta
