Canon City woman improving with H1N1 virus

The Canon City woman who contracted the H1N1 virus more than three weeks ago is showing signs of improvement, according to her father.

Mike Williams tells News First 5 his daughter, Kayla Kammrad, is looking more like herself.  She's been in the ICU of Penrose Hospital in critical condition for the past three weeks.

"She's starting to look better, more like Kayla," says Williams. "She's progressing."

She has two young boys, and her husband, Jeff, was rushed back from Iraq to be with her while she recovers.  He's with the National Guard.

Several area businesses are holding fundraisers to help with Kayla's medical bills.  The family has also set up a fund at Pueblo Bank & Trust in Canon City.
