Canon City drowning investigated as accident

Investigators with the Fremont County Sheriff's Office are investigating the drowning of a 4 year old boy at a home daycare as an accident. The incident happened at around noon Wednesday at a home in the 1300 block of 12th Street in Canon City.

The victim, 4-year old Riddick Boling, and as many as 9 other children were swimming in a large above ground pool. The daycare provider, Leslie Grayson, heard the childen screaming and ran to the pool to find them trying to pull the boy from the water.

She attempted to perform CPR as did paramedics. The boy was taken to St. Thomas Moore Hospital but was not able to be revived.

Grayson is said to be cooperating with detectives. Cpt. Don Pinover of the Fremont County Sheriff's office said it is too soon to say whether charges, if any, will be filed.
