Doctors are finding that the combination of radiation treatment and CT scans is improving survival rates for cancer patients. The scans allow doctors to more accurately target cancer cells while sparing healthy tissue.
Dr. Maurice King, Radiation Oncologist, "This is a further step in the evolution of being able to get tighter and tighter with our treatment fields."
The precision allows doctors to prescribe higher doses for better results. For example, the radiation can be pinpointed on prostate cancer cells, while sparing the colon and hip bones from damage.
