She was honored on Saturday by her teammates and now Sand Creek senior basketball player Jasmine McIntosh is the "Loaf ‘N Jug High School Athlete of the Week."
Jasmine started playing basketball in the fourth grade. When she was only 13 years old and in the eighth grade, Jasmine was diagnosed with liver cancer. Just two months after she completed chemotherapy treatments she tried out for the freshman softball team. She made the name and was later named defensive player of the year. That same year she tried out for the basketball team and has played both sports ever since. She refused to be detoured by chemo and radiation treatments.
Jasmine is also a standout in the classroom. A member of National Honor Society, jasmine is ranked sixth in her class at Sand Creek. Four colleges have already offered her academic scholarships.
