COLORADO SPRINGS - There was some friendly competition between a few of our local elected leaders this afternoon for a good cause. District Attorney Dan May and County Commissioner Darryl Glenn joined in a foot race downtown at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Musuem with members of the El Paso County Sheriffs Office, Colorado Springs Police Department and TESSA.
All five sprinted the course in full work clothes, but after just a few strides Commissioner Glenn lost his balance when his shoe slipped off. Other than his pride, he wasn't hurt.
The race followed a brief ceremony proclaming the week of April 22-April 27 as Crime Vicitims Rights Week in El Paso County. There will be a full 5K Run/1 Mile Walk Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Monument Valley Park to raise money for local victim advocacy agencies. Race day registration is limited. So, participants are encouraged to register early at victimsrightsweekcs.org.
