Buffer recommended around medical marijuana dispensaries

A recommendation for a thousand foot buffer around medical marijuana centers comes from the Colorado Springs Planning Commission. That would mean medical marijuana centers could not operate within 1,000 feet of schools, including colleges and pre-schools.
The commission voted 6-1 for the 1,000 foot boundary today, and added child care facilities and drug or alcohol treatment centers to the list.
The City Council will still have to approve the recommendations.
